Site Selection for Home in Maricopa County, Arizona

Homing in on Maricopa County, Arizona is a base map showing places, federal land and Indian reservations. This map was relatively easy to create because the data was already available. Once the project was documented and the environments set, it was a matter od adding the data and symbolizing it appropriately.

As the power of GIS has increased over the years so has its versatility. This exercise combined the spatial projection of this region with its location quotient analysis to assess economic impacts. This map was created using multiple spatial and operational functions to denote the spatial relationship between the industries and their economic performance. Based on the results, the local governmental authorities can see that the south side of Peltrum region's economy is based heavily upon agriculture, forestry, and fishing exports. I did not encounter any major problems in creating this map; however, I had to make several attempts to get the calculations correct.

Pewter City- Social Impact Assessment

This map is an example of how GIS can meet the needs of our society by being able to map social survey data to create assessments of social impacts. This thematic map shows the occupancy rate of university students in Pewter City which was based on survey and census data at the block level. I did not encounter any problems in creating this map. This one was a pleasure to create!
